Aaliyah ft. Drake – “Enough Said”

Posted in Entertainment, Inspiration, Music, Twitter on August 6, 2012 by tokyosparkz

Aaliyah passed away almosts 11 years ago, but today (August 5th) we get a new song from the late artist called “Enough Said,” featuring Drake. The Toronto rapper made headlines when he revealed that he would be executive producing a posthumous album from the storied singer and actress. The ethereal and smooth track was produced by Drizzy’s trust producer, Noah “40” Shebib.

Drake getting hands on with Aaliyah’s music has spurned some controversy. Timbaland believes that he and Missy Elliott, who were key in Aaliyah’s meteoric rise to success, feels that it’s only right that they both be involved in the project, as do plenty of fans. “I know they trying to drop some Aaliyah records, but if he do it, it should be with me and him, and Missy,” Timbaland told the Breakfast Club.

As for Drake, the YMCMB rapper is surely excited since he recently got another tattoo in honor of Aaliyah (a “116” for her January 16th birthday on his ribcage) to complement the one of her face he has on his back.

Let us know what you think of the new Aaliyah song in the comments. Listen to “Enough Said” below.

50 cent makes $50 million in one day & shut down World Star Hip Hop?

Posted in Entertainment, Inspiration, Life, Social Trend, Tech, Twitter with tags , , , on January 24, 2011 by tokyosparkz

Rapper 50 Cent sent a tweet out to his 3,888,543 million followers and took credit for shutting down popular urban website, WorldstarHipHop.com.

The site went down without warning earlier today (January 24th).

Just moments ago, 50 Cent took to Twitter and took credit for the site’s disruption, squashing rumors that the site was seized by Homeland Security, like several other websites in November of 2010.

“I don’t know why people underestimate me. I just shut down WORLDSTAR for future advertising contact thisis50.com suckers lol,” 50 Cent tweeted. “I put worldstar to bed, you don’t believe try me I will shut your sh*t down. Lol.”

In November of 2009, 50 Cent filed a lawsuit against the website, claiming his image and content was used on the website without permission.

“I have lawyers on retainers and I have to pay them so much money anyway, so we’ll go back and forth to court until (they) can’t afford a Subway sandwich,” 50 Cent said in 2009. “It’s already too late for (them).”

Reps for WorldStarHipHop.com have not responded to a request for a statement as of press time.

50 issued an ominous prediction that may come true this week.

“I predict 2 more web sites will shut down this week. Take a guess who they are. I’m sick of the hate I’m to strong,” 50 Cent tweeted.

Were 50 Cent’s tweets this weekend the most valuable tweets of all time?

I think they probably were, not only did he shut down World Star Hip Hop this year but also made $50 million from tweeting!

Penny stock HNHI — a distributor of headphones — were surging after 50 Cent tweeted about it all weekend.

The stock ended up closing up a staggering 240%.
Here’s the chart:

At the current market cap of $71 million (per Yahoo Finance) that’s a $50 million gain from Friday.

Check out the tweets that made 50’s pockets go ka-ching!

Obviously 50’s being compensated. How much? A LOT.

This SEC filing shows that he owned 30 million shares. Seeing as each one gained $.29 today, that’s nearly $10 million for one weekend of tweeting.

Happy Birthday Twitter

Posted in Entertainment, Social Trend, Twitter on March 21, 2010 by tokyosparkz

This has to be the sweetest of times for Twitter co-founders Evan Williams, Biz Stone and Jack Dorsey. Sunday March 21st marks the fourth anniversary of the social networking, information service that has taken the world by storm. They continue to add features that enhance the experience, and they’re quite confident about Twitter’s lasting impact.

I am too.

Indeed, there isn’t a day where Twitter isn’t apart of the international conversation. I stumbled onto Twitter through another site back in January 2009. My main motivation for joining was to promote my then-newly created blog, and to connect with truly substantive people moving the world forward. Twitter, like no other site, has helped me to achieve this in ways I never dreamed of. From the shores of Daytona Beach to the skyscrapers of Dubai, I’ve connected with mentors, industry leaders, motivational speakers, business visionaries, dream merchants, wordsmiths, & serious go-getters.

Though I’ve only been on Twitter for the better part of one year, I’ll be celebrating its birthday as well. Jack Dorsey’s revelatory quote – “One could change the world with one hundred and forty characters” – has been proven right many times over. Twitter has been a bridge to amazing cultures, a platform for innovation, and an empowering vision of what it means to be a global citizen.

Happy birthday Twitter. May you continue to be the cutting-edge, thought-provoking, world-changing powerhouse that you’ve been for the last 4 years.
